Soma Subba hails from Ghoom, Darjeeling. At a very early age Soma lost her father and her mother had no alternative other then to take up the job of a porter. With a mere income of Rs 30/- or 35/- a day it is difficult for Soma’s mother to take care of three children and herself. Soma is a bright student and some day she wants to touch the sky. MARG has been able to bring back smile on SOMA’s face as MARG has taken the initiative of educating Soma till she becomes the responsible citizen of India. She is in class eight and is going to Ghoom Girls High School in Ghoom Darjeeling.
