Jyoti
“The biggest enemy of India is poverty” That perhaps defines why we should fight for poverty alleviation.
So friends lets join our hands and stand united to fight against this enemy! it is of course a mammoth ambition. But we in MARG are all geared up for this fight. And we believe that your little act of kindness can make all the difference to someone’s world! In this endeavour MARG has already initiated the process of poverty alleviation in the hills of Darjeeling, Kalimpong & Kurseong located in the North Eastern part of India in the state of West Bengal by sponsoring education and hostel fee of some of the village children from the area.
People in this area are mostly farmers and earn their living by selling what they grow in their fields. Children at very early age start working/helping the family in the fields to earn a living. Because of poverty children in this region have not been able to go to school. Till date electricity has not yet reached some of the villages and one needs to trek for two-three hours to reach these villages.
How will Mankind in Action for Rural Growth work?
MARG works very closely with other local NGO’s, schools and Panchayats in identifying the children from the villages. After identification MARG representatives would then visit the child at his/her village for verification. MARG would then approach good institutions in and around the hills where the child (he/she) would be admitted.
